Visvim FW13 “Dissertation On a Man with No Country Vol.2 ” Lookbook

Visvim continues  themes established over the past year for their Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The collection is styled with plenty of layering and tons of accessories, a continuation on the aesthetics of their Spring/Summer 2013. Some key items that return in fine form are the FBT and knit cowichan. I also have to give a shoutout to the amazing shearling coats in this lookbook. While this collection doesn’t break new ground for Visvim, it does re-iterate some of the recent strengths of the brand and offers a look at some staple investment pieces that can be worn for years to come.

FACTOTUM FW13 Lookbook

FACTOTUM (try saying that out loud three times) put out this lookbook for their Fall/Winter 2013/14 collection. The head designer  Koji Udo is evidently a big fan of literary legend Charles Bukowski (to which he owes the brand name). Bukowski is also the source of inspiration for this collection. Bukowski’s book ‘Post Office’ informs this collection and there are visible elements from both American and British post office uniforms worked into the range. The key symbol for this is the bald eagle which finds itself on many of the pieces.

The simple styling makes this collection quite approachable without being boring. The outwear and knitwear pieces do steal the spotlight as the pants here tend to be quite minimal. There’s a mix of cropped jackets/bombers and longer cardigans/overcoats and even a few Budweiser-inspired  flips. This lookbook definitely provides solid visual inspiration for those looking to stay stylishly low-key this fall.  If you’re not familiar with the brand and like what you see here I recommend you go through their lookbook archives HERE

DWMS2 w/ Tommy Kruise, Yung Gleesh & Grandemarshall

For a quick recap of the night, the good folks at Sundree TV and Farrington G put together this lil clip recapping the performances. Some very good times were had by those in attendance and without a doubt watching the wait for the next DWMS that much more painful. Stay tuned here we’ll be sure to let you know soon as the next event comes together.

Yung Gleesh

If you were at DWMS2 on Saturday this will all be familiar to you. It was a night of raw, underground rap. No radio friendly joints here, just straight street anthems and the type of noise most people in your liberal arts college wouldn’t approve of. Mista Whoa got the night started with some strong genre-crossing sounds.

GrandeMarshall

Afterward Young Gleesh laced us with a very rare, high energy performance with the audience reaction for Skrong being one of the highlights. GrandeMarshall (Fool’s Gold) continued on the high energy rap theme delivering a 20 minute set before Farrington G set things up for Tommy Kruise. Seeing Ghost in the Shell visuals flashing as Tommy Kruise put together a seamless trap opus almost brought a tear to my eye. Geng Grizzly closed out the night with an incredible set himself that I can only describe as post-apocalyptic bunker music (Gucci deservedly got alot of shine)

Salute to everyone I saw there and to all the new people I met.  Shoutout Mista Whoa and Tommy for being fantastic human beings , Note D for the trippy visuals and  Geng Grizzly for putting it all together.

Saint Laurent FW14 Editorial w/ Tadanobu Asano

Honeyee presents their take on the Fall/Winter 2014 Saint Laurent Paris collection by inviting  famed Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano to model. Asano has starred in films including  Ichi the Killer and Thor and is a household name in Japan. The best piece here is the leather rider, but Asano also pulls off the varsity and is in the 1% of human beings who can wear a white fur overcoat well.

Interview with Claire Geist of DeLune

It’s always nice to look at the blogs of your friends because you get a little bit more from the experience. When I first met Claire, I wasn’t aware of her blog De Lune, I did however notice her easy-going and effortless style. Clothes always work best when they reflect the wearers interests and personality and Claire has certainly been able to find that for herself. She’s been sharing her thoughts, images, and outfits with the world since 2008 when she first started blogging. In the years since, she’s had quite a bit of success at building a large engaged audience. Claire has been featured on everywhere from Refinery29 to Teen Vogue. She’s currently studying Fashion and Art Fashion at The New School.  I spoke with her about her approach to style , the evolution of her blog and the upcoming collaborations she’s been working on.
