Japanese streetwear label Uniform Experiment has been utilizing the medium of video to showcase its collections for a a couple years now. This short clip is straight to the point, zooming in on the details on staples from field jackets to plaid-lined overcoats. The fast moving visual shows off designers Hirofumi Kiyonaga’s designs , utilizing everyday locations as a backdrop. If you’re unfamiliar with the label, a good starting point is their denim and sweatshirt basics which are well constructed and smartly designed.

Under the Sophnet umbrella Uniform Experiment has been releasing novel twists on men’s classics since the brand’s inception. The Japanese label puts out a mix of both dressed up gear and more casual streetwear for their Fall/Winter 2014 collection. The looks found in the collection are blends military/sreetwear inspired looks with more tailored trousers and shirting. The simple styling really allows us to see the gear clearly, and emphasizes some of the more exciting pieces such as the above blazer/ma-1 hybrid. Uniform Experiment makes really really good versions of wardrobe staples. The Japanese label might not revolutionize the game, but you can always expect them elevate basics such as oxfords, cable-knit sweaters and casual blazers to the next level. The narrative of the video is pretty simple, imagine an guys night out minus the Jager bombs. The whole thing comes across feeling pretty damn cinematic and the music isn’t half bad either.
