Undercover by Jun Takhashi Undercoverism FW13 Lookbook

Through the brand’s history, Jun Takahashi has guided Undercover through several main stylistic periods. In recent collections he has gone away from the techy minimal look of ‘Less but Better’  and towards the styling found in this collection. In this Fall/Winter lookbook I see references to Jun’s past work from the skinny scab-esque jeans to some of the mod references that were present in the ‘Neoboy & Poptones’ collection. While this is far from my favorite collection from UC, it definitely has some hit pieces in the 45 looks presented.  The looks walk a delicate balance between traditional English tailored wear and the youthful rebellion of British Punk with a sprinkling of 80’s sci-fi.

02DERIV. SS13 “SURFARI” Lookbook

02DERIV is a new sub-line from Japanese brand Master-Piece that is a little more youthful and active compared to it’s mainline cousin. The lookbook has a distinct cali feel, fusing elements of surf culture with aesthetics borrowed from safari style. The styling and photography really elevate the presentation of the line with standout pieces being the technical shells and the pocketed pastel oxfords. Also found in the line are boardshorts are all-over print sneakers. So often the sunny cali vibe used in a lookbook can look clichĂŠ , but it really compliments the line instead of detracting from it in this case.

GRIND: Tokyo Creators Wear HUMAN MADE

Nigo enlists some influential friends from the Tokyo fashion scene including Ambush designer Verbal,  Tetsu Nishiyama from WTAPS, and UNITED ARROWS & SONS’ Motofumi Kogi to model the Fall/Winter 2012 HUMAN MADE collection. The shoot is styled casually but incorporates items from basic sweatshirts and button-downs to a riders jacket and toggle coat. The current Issue 07 of Inventory Magazine has a fantastic feature on Nigo and his incredible collection of vintage items; a collection which must be a major influence on his HUMAN MADE designs.
