Previously Unreleased Kanye West Photos by Jonathan Mannion

Ten years before Yeezus, the self-appointed Louis Vuitton Don was photographed for the cover of The Fader’s Inaugural ‘Now’ issue. These previously unreleased photos are outtakes from that shoot with Hip-hop photographer Jonathan Mannion (who famously photographed Jay-Z’s cover for Reasonable Doubt). Jonathan reflects on the experience of meeting and photographing Yeezy that day: “At … Read more

P.A.M. FW13 Lookbook

Australian label P.A.M. (Perks & Mini) shows off it’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. To me the brand has always embodied a quirky and elevated streetwear feel. The looks here are a bit slouchy, and layered sensibly. The pants in the collection definitely look like they have an excellent cut; straight-leg but with a slight taper. Gradients, patterns, and contrasting patterns give this collection a touch the necessary details to have it standout in the marketplace. This is definitely some excellent gear to flex on the first day of a college fall semester.

Editorial: Benjamin Eidem & Cameron Russel for Man About Town

Models: Cameron Russel & Benjamin Edim

Shot by Lachlan Bailey, styled by Clare Richardson

Man About Town is one of my favorite publications. The London-based magazine is a smart take on men’s fashion. Any time you pick up the quarterly you should expect excellent editorials and interviews with some of the industry’s most talented. This editorial is inspired by 70’s prep and manages to tastefully execute the feeling of being on a college campus during that period . It’s nice to see an editorial that draws on prep that isn’t literal. As well it’s a nice departure from the PJs, North Face fleeces and flip-flops you’d see on a real college campus in 2013. Take this posting as a friendly reminder that coupleswear doesn’t have to be coupleswear. See it in print in the Man About Town Spring/Summer 2013 issue.

Marie Bovo Bab-El-Louk Photo Series

Marie Bovo is a Marseilles based photographer  and artist. In 2006 Marie installed a camera on the rooftop of her building in the neighborhood of Bab-El-Louk in Cairo and took 10 photos  each day. The result is a compelling visual narrative that explores the circular passing of time. Throughout the series, buildings are constructed and decayed; obscuring the horizon throughout day and night. This is one of the first project she’s done focused around architecture as the main subject.

Summer Sneakers: Nike Vandal High Supreme Pack

In a past life I was huge into sneakers. After selling off much of my collection, my interest in sneakers has really come back in the past year or so. Nike has of course been killing the game with models like the Flyknit but past their running line, there has been a steady stream of excellent retros as well. The Vandal has long been one of my favorite Nike silhouettes but the high-top is usually overshadowed by the better known Air Force One and Dunk models. I’m kind of a purist when it comes to Vandals and believe they ALWAYS look best in their OG nylon incarnations. Lucky for me Nike is dropping some great summer colorways of the Vandal High Supreme  this July. I got my eye on the blue pair but feel free to comment on which colorway is your personal favorite.

BoF Article ” The Gatekeepers of Japanese Fashion”

Photo: Undercover Aoyama As I’ve learned more about fashion, my personal tastes have gravitated towards many labels based in Japan. To me many Japanese brands appeal due to the quality of product, but also due to the unique perspectives that designers from there provide. Many Japanese labels have had little opportunity (or in some cases … Read more

C.E SS13 Editorial by The Collective Square

Photography by KOKI SATO

Japanese retailer The Collective Square teamed up with rap collective Phony PPL for this shoot on the streets of Manhattan. The clique stays in the Spring/Summer 2013 collection from C.E. One piece stands above the other for me, the tan gradient parka looks like it’s an excellent outerwear piece for the summer.

You can shop the collection online at The Collective Square along with other brands including NEXUS VII, Bedwin, Deluxe and Phenomenon. More looks after the jump.

Third Looks Editorial: Selfie Involved

I teamed up with stylist Jamie Ortega and Saada for this editorial that highlights how social media has made us all curators of our digital image.

“We have several social media outlets to make us look fabulous doing the mundane, like we have a paparazzi squad trailing us. Whether it’s making sure to beautifully style the breakfast spread or dressing up for coffee meeting, there’s an audience watching your feed. The metrics of followers and likes are still being analyzed, and PR and advertising agencies are chomping at the bit on how to translate social presence into sales conversion. To be honest, I find the whole new media thing pretty fascinating. But, all I really want to know is: If I follow you will you follow me back?” – Jamie Ortega

Actual selfies were taken in the making of this editorial and they can been seen on Saada’s instagram.

Look 1: House dress (Saada’s own)

Look 2: Yanghi Jacket, Acne tank, Topshop skirt

Goodhood Store SS13 Lookbook ‘The Art of Looking Sideways’

Photography by Two of Swords

Modeled by Francesca Chantel

London based Good Hood put together this editorial with some select items  Featuring the latest goods from brands including NEIGHBORHOOD, Norse Projects, Unrivaled, Soulland, Maiden Noir and P.A.M. Without a doubt more and more men’s shops are brands are using females in their visuals, however I think this is one of the better lookbooks I’ve seen styled with a street sensibility in some time. All the looks are a bit oversized  and the silhouette here is can inspire guys and girls alike.
