Streetstyle: Best of Tune Magazine

Streetstyle is considered a recent phemenon and although it has definetly exploded in popularity in recent years, the documentation of style is nothing new. Film documentaries such as Wild Style and American Hardcore captured style through the the lens of subcultural movements and a host of newspapers and magazines have had street style features for decades.

VFILES has collected a small archive of streetsyle shots from the Japan-based Tune Magazine dating from 2005-2007. From these I have selected some of my favorites in this post. Images such as these act as a counter-balance to what has been filling up modern streetstyle blogs. These looks are not based around current trends or designer label whoring. It is clear through the images that these looks are a result of careful consideration and attention to the details. The lesson for me is that stylish individuals wear items in a way that imposes their style on the clothes not the other way around. You shouldn’t have to spend a ton of money to look great, you just have to know how you want to look. Let us know your thoughts on these looks in the comments section.
