Facetasm is one of the brands that’s constantly pushing men’s styling and production. Each collection varies but one thing that’s certain is that there will be some wild creations by designer Hiromichi Ochiai every year. This time around he was inspired by the indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest, and this manifests in the patchwork and embroidery details found on select pieces. Some of the standout pieces from the collection include a heavy distressed washed leather jacket, an all tan workwear look and the striped wool coat above. While Facetasm is still highly elusive outside Japan look for stockists like SSENSE or Farfetch to carry items.

Japanese label Facetasm showed their Spring/Summer 2015 collection at Tokyo Fashion week. The label is known for it’s wild takes on streetwear with exaggerated color palettes and shapes.  Designer Hiromichi Ochiai wanted to achieve a balance between ‘dressing up and dressing down’ for this fashion week outing and he is successful in  blending a mix of wilder pieces with more basic items that regular guys can feel comfortable adding to their closets.

Much of the styling here plays around the length of garments, with many looks featuring several different lengths overtop slim tapered pants or baggy more playful shorts. If you found past Facetasm collections a bit too intimidating to wear but still had an appreciation for the aesthetic of the brand , you should be able to find more low-key items this time around. On the contrary if you are looking for the wild and crazy stuff there’s plenty of it here including crossed lapel tuxedos and wide ponchos.

If you are fiending for current season product you can find it at over at H.Lorenzo.

Facetasm Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

Detail shots of men’s looks

Facetasm does not make minimal clothing. As is obvious from the above photos , Facetasm is all about maximalism. Bold colors patterns , and fabrics combined with unorthodox styling define the brand and this season is no different. Hiromichi Ochiai cut his teeth designing for the likes of UNDERCOVER and COMME des GARCONS and has made the theme of the Spring/Summer 2013 collection ‘Flavor’. Certainly these looks don’t lack in that department. While the styling for Facetasm is a bit too over the top for my tastes, there are a few items that I wouldn’t mind adding to my wardrobe. I think the important thing observers of the brand need to recognize is that it really is a brand made for self-styling and expression; you should feel free to choose the pieces you like and wear them YOUR way even if it looks nothing like the runway looks. Each season of this brand so far has been quite different and I’m excited to see how the brand will progress.
