Nothing sets the Holiday mood like open bar and Chinese restaurants. The snaps are from the VFILES Holiday party which took place on Monday night. It was tons of fun celebrating with everyone who works so hard behind the scenes to keep VFILES humming along.

Tons more photos after the jump and in the official VFILES FILE

These photos are from the opening of Poloroids by Deigo Uchitel at Milk Studios in New York. The show (which ended today) took place in conjunction with the release of a book of the same title. In the show you can see originals from his wall of Poloroid snaps taken over the years by Diego Uchitel featuring personalities such as River Pheonix, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Quentin Tartino and more. I’ve always loved Polaroids for their dream-like quality and feel of the printed image. You can find puchase archival prints of Diego’s work from the Milk Studios Store.

I felt lucky to be part of the 2012 Opening Ceremony Holiday party and see all these familiar faces. I’ve been friends with some of the staff since I first moved to New York and it brings me great pride to see everyone celebrating in the same room. Until the next one, enjoy these snaps of the event.

Large Professor

Motherboard is basically a tech website about how the future is super scary but also potentially amazing. A good example of the site’s style is this recent post on drones. The site recently underwent a complete re-design and to celebrate VICE threw a party.

The party was at a pretty random location in the financial district. The real highlight of the night for me was to see Rza perform. After Large Professor got the crowd moving , Rza came in and shut it down. He put on a spirited set going through Wu classics such as Gravel Pit and ended off on ODB’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”. It was a fun night and it was great to see RZA poppin bottles on stage rocking the crowd with just a mic and a DJ.

Yoko Ono and Humberto Leon of Opening Ceremony

This past Tuesday I went to the launch event and signing for Yoko Ono’s collection of clothes for Opening Ceremony entitled “Fashions for Men”. The collection was based on Yoko Ono’s wedding gift to John Lennon. The below video explains more of Yoko’s inspirations behind the collection. Whatever you think of the collection, it can’t be argued that Opening Ceremony certainly knows how to create a spectacle and that any public appearance by Yoko Ono is extremely rare.

If you live in New York you will definitely see famous people regularly but its truly rare to see a Victoria Secret Supermodel in the flesh and one of my all time-favorites at that. Ladies and gentlemen, Alessandra Ambrosio was at Milk Studios and so was I. Thank You Based God. Enjoy the eye candy.

Last Thursday I visited Nepenthes New York for the first time for their gallery opening and reception for Ben Este’s Loose Boards exhibition. Even more impressive than their well-curated selection of menswear was the feeling of community that was fostered at the event. Friends, designers, staff and customers mixed and mingle with the night culminated on a poetry slam held right on the middle stairs.

The best brick and mortar shops I’ve been to around the world always go beyond selling clothes; they are able to be a meeting place for friends and like-minded individuals.
