Nexus VII Fall/Winter 2013 Lookbook

Since I’ve known about Nexus VII I’ve always appreciated the outerwear pieces they’ve put out. In particular I felt like their gore-tex shells were some of the best out. I was looking forward to seeing what the Japanese label had in-store for Fall/Winter 2013 and they didn’t disappoint. What I like about lookbook is that the photography and styling both have a vintage feel, but the individual pieces definitely enter more experimental territory. A fantastic Air Force inspired leather jacket is in the mix alongside some ill sherpa lined shearlings. More technical pieces are here too including layered weighted shirts,  down pieces and vests.  Be sure to click through and see the rest.

Put your proxy to work these items will be dropping on their webshop very soon.

WTAPS FW 2013 Collection

While the WTAPS lookbook with Tet did not reveal much about the pieces in the collection, these outfits from WTAPS show things in a bit more detail. For the Fall/Winter season it seems the brand has veered away from it’s heavy militaristic aesthetic and into the realm of simpler casualwear looks.

Once again the concept of lifism is referenced and outlined below. While these images don’t give too much insight into the details of the clothing, I’m still excited to see some of individual pieces in stores.

The philosophy of ‘Lifism’ is one concerned with the individual’s experience. In our present endeavours, progressing through our routines and daily grinds, we trigger the nuances that give us the unique experience that is our own life. As such, the most important moment to the individual is the present one – defining that which has come before it, and shaping what will come in the future. Only through ‘being’, can we start ‘living’.

WTAPS FW13 ‘Lifist’ Lookbook

WTAPS presents a simple approach to their Fall/Winter 2013 Lookbook. For being a Fall/Winter collection not many of the items here seem suited for colder weather. Most of the pieces here don’t stray far from basics like t-shirts, jeans and t-shirts. The creative direction is in line with head designer Tetsu Nishiyama’s philosophy of being a lifist. In short that term has come a harmonious lifestyle where work, play and relationships are balanced. The lookbook features photos of TET himself doing everyday activities: skating, working on his motorcycle and getting a haircut.

KOMAKINO FW13 Lookbook

shot by RÊmi LamandÊ and styled by Niklas Bildstein Zaar.

KOMAKINO released this lookbook for their Fall/Winter 2013 collection and it’s bound to make MA-1 and black boot fans very happy. The bomber is released in a ton of different variations and colorways. Simpler staples such as the graphic t-shirts, crewnecks, button-down and skinny trousers round out the selection.

For a glimpse into the future, take a look at their Spring/Summer 2014 presentation HERE. See all the looks after the jump.

Supreme FW13 Lookbook and Collection

New York based skate/streetwear giant Supreme returns with their Fall/Winter 2013 collection. As someone who’s been tracking and wearing the brand for many years, I have to say that recent collections have been quite a disappointment to me. As the brand has increased it’s presence both it’s online store, new London location and a stream of high-profile celebrity endorsements, it’s also felt the pressure to adapt more to current market trends and also produce more items to meet demand. At this point, I’m not really interested in just another fitted or hoody with Supreme written on it. Most disappointedly are the pieces which seem to be influenced by the current web culture through the use of nostalgic graphics (that Blingee style hate graphic and the Indian ‘hanu’ design come to mind). Also surprising was the release of a stadium jacket which appears to be a real collaboration with Wise potato chips. Somehow I doubt the brand would have ever considered this move five years ago. It’s this ability to ‘cover all bases’ that makes Supreme such a viable, iconic brand but perhaps in increasing the range, they’ve lost a bit of what made the brand so special in the first place.

Supreme is always an interesting case study as it is still fun to sift through each release. The brand remains a great barometer of where men’s fashion (not just streetwear) is at during a particular point in time. My favorite pieces from the brand in the past were generally ones where the branding was a bit more subversive or otherwise low-key. Pieces like this are few and far between this time out but there are still some gems in here that are worth the reasonable price of admission (Supreme still has a pretty fair pricepoint for the quality all things considered). There are a couple noteworthy collaborations with Champion and Schott and I’m sure that more will be announced in the coming weeks. That being said there are always a few items in each collection worth coveting, I’ve made a selection of my personal favorites and posted them below after the jump. Luker by Neighborhood FW13 Collection

Luker is the UK-inspired subbrand from Neighborhood. While the mainline Neighborhood is heavily influenced by biker/motorcycle culture, Luker pulls from mod, punk and trad British inspirations. I wish there was a proper lookbook on this as some of the products do appear a bit flat without a model wearing em. The most interesting pieces here for me are the denim shirt, the MA-1 bombers above and the basic grey hoodie. Take a look back at the Spring/Summer collection by Luker HERE.

Undercoverism FW13 New Releases

You may have previously seen the Undercoverism Fall/Winter 2013 ‘ANATOMICOUTURE‘ editorial. Zozotown dropped several items from the line which are available to purchase HERE. Among the highlights are this season’s leather rider jacket (above), a backpack with the sames ‘bones’ motif and the ribbed black skinny jeans. More after the jump.

marka FW13 Lookbook

Marka is a spin-off diffusion line to Japanese label Markaware designed by Shunsuke Ishikawa with a pricepoint that is more than reasonable given the quality. The designs are a little bit more youthful and casual compared to it’s slightly more dressed up brethren. The collection is full of patterns and textures styled smartly. This is one of those lookbooks where the quality of the actual garments is well represented. While I haven’t had the chance to see these garments in person, everything here looks like it’s well worth the price of admission. Japanese customers can find the brand online at the Area webshop or visit the official marka site HERE.

Raf Simons x Fred Perry AW13 collection

While the on-going collaboration between Fred Perry and Raf Simons has not really broke new ground in it’s product offering, there are always a few gems in each collection. For Autumn/Winter 2013, Raf once again visits Mod culture (think checkerboard shirts) and mashes it against American collegiate wear (varsity jackets w/ chenille letters). The presentation is nicely done with Pierre Debusscherre behind the lens with styling by Robbie Spencer (fashion director at Dazed & Confused). Keeping with the line’s inspirations the location of this shoots Hippodrome de Boitsfort ( a former racecourse in Brussels built in 1875).

My personal favorites are the electric blue duffle coat, the knit polo and the burgundy varsity. Take a look at the rest of the collection after the jump.

Neighborhood FW13 Lookbook

Neighborhood doesn’t deviate far from its brand DNA for it’s fall/winter 2013 collection. In recent years the brand has shed some of it’s youth-driven streetwear image and has perused a more refined aesthetic rooted in workwear, motorcycle culture and Americana. Head designer Shinsuke Takizawa always has a great eye for creating memorable lookbooks and this definitely ranks up there as one of my favorites from the Japanese label. The photography is done in a style that references periods from the 1940s to the 1970s. You’ll be sure to find some incredible pieces amongst the selection of Shearling Jackets, Chore coats and denim.
