WTAPS has been using military history and culture to dictate the direction of their collections since the brand’s inception. A new subline from WTAPS focuses on stripping away the branding and presenting a more minimal take on the genre. Mill is focused around military uniforms and bringing a streamlined take on military uniforms.

The SS19 Mil (UNIFORMS) capsule sees WTAPS strip back to the bare necessities of workwear, delivering “the ultimate uniform line” thanks to simplistic, oversized cuts and minimal tailoring. The capsule is comprised of a M-65 field jacket, a ripstop jungle BDU shirt, cargo pants, ripstop jungle pants and a pair of simplified cotton-satin mix trousers. Available on the WATPS site now. We may have hit peak cross-body bag in 2018, but in 2019 a functional easy to throw on bag is still a necessity. As always, Rick Owens places his own signature on the style with this Alien bag by DRKSHDW. Crafted in tan canvas, it includes external Velcro and zip pockets and a laminated window enclosing a photographic print and a patch that reads ‘Aliens’. The theme fits in with the larger SS19 collection which focuses around the paranormal.

Junya Watanabe continues his streak of working with outerwear brands for the spring summer 2019 season. Watanabe teams up with both Karrimor and The North Face for some lighter jackets appropriate for warmer weather.

While the fall collections featured bulkier cuts and heavier duty materials, the spring collection emphasizes subtlety. Items include a dark navy technical parka and a fairly low-key camouflage coaches jacket. Expect items to show up at shops including SSENSE soon.

One of the great things about Junya is that they go straight to the source when it comes to producing certain collaborations. Instead of trying to re-create something the military already does, Junya teamed up with Ark Air – a retailer for services like the British Royal Marines and the French Foreign Legion on this wool vest. The item draws obvious inspiration from military vests, this piece does not shy away from the aggressively utilitarian look.

The middle of winter means that you’ll need to layer up, fortunately Kapital has come through with some of the best of the season. Two designs available now on Mr.Porter show off a creative and practical take on the style. The first is a half-placket sweatshirt made from a fuzzy style fleece that’s printed with a moreu pattern – a whirlpool-like shape indigenous to the Ainu people from Hokkaido, Japan, that’s believed to ward off evil. In the new year, it seems that Nike has renewed its focus on the classic Blazer model. Giving it proper attention means that Nike is set to released a Mid 77 Vintage version of the mode, in a “Lucid Green and Sail White” colorway. The sneaker attempts to re-capture the details of the original, down to the tongue and midsole. The grey suede really adds something to an otherwise clean color way. It’s nice to see that Nike is starting the year out with a focus on both their archives as well as new sneakers.

The aforementioned sneaker will hit the shelves of select Nike retailers including SJS at a retail of $100.

A collaboration that’s been rumored for once finally has images and a release date. Tokyo based C.E is teaming up with Nike to develop something that should feel familiar to anyone who’s followed the streetwear label in the past few years. The focal point of the collection is the Air Max 95s which feature a pixelated digital-camo feel. Available in navy and a white/black colorway the sneaker replaces the traditional AIRMAX badge with the CE logo.

To compliment the footwear, the brand is also releasing a series of athletic minded items including a track jacket, track pants, a jersey, a cap and a vest. The brand confirms a drop on January 5th on the Cav Empt website as well as their Tokyo location, with a wider release through Nike stockists including Wellgosh.

A-COLD-WALL has really come into it’s own in 2018. After multiple collaborations with Nike already rolled out this year, the most anticipated is still yet to come in the form of this Air Force One. The sneaker deconstructs elements of the original model in order to  differentiate it from the typical colorways availble. Eyelets have been removed and the shoe uses a new eco-friendly flyleather technology which combines natural leather with recycled letter. A logo hit on the upper is and branded insole are little details also incorporated into the model. With a release date now confirmed for December 21 at select stockists including Nike SNKRS and Farfetch.

While the Nike React Element 87 has received much more praise and attention (deservedly so) than the Element 55, this is the first interesting model to come down utilizing the base model. The striking grid pattern is the first thing you notice followed by the colors which take inspiration from Nike’s original Escape Pack that dates back to 1988.  . The colors used take inspiration from the Windrunner, Lahar and Air Force III from that pack, but give it a modern feel with the nylon upper. Size? even shot a custom editorial to go with the release.  The retail for these is  £115 USD and be available on November 29 from the Size? webshop and app.
