Gucci Off-White ‘Gucci Cube’ Rhyton Sneakers

The bulky designer sneaker thing is literally everywhere this season and of course Gucci isn’t missing out on the trend. Gucci is experiencing huge growth for many reasons, it’s a favorite amongst the Hollywood/celebrity elite and their designs are distinctively gaudy in a way that stands out in today’s market. Their entrance into the sneaker category this season however is carefully balanced between luxury branding and minimal design. These leather low tops are featured a Logo flag at padded tongue and a padded collar for comfort. The Gucci Logo stamp is delivered in glittered gold-tone and the usual stripes in red and green printed at outer side. These will set you back  a pretty penny but for the ballers out there, the stunt factor alone may be worth it.

Junya Watanabe x North Face Backpack Jacket

Last year saw the rollout of the first items from North Face’s collaboration with Junya Watanabe. Perhaps the best of the whole lot however just recently dropped. The made in Japan collab in delivering a highly functional jacket that features all kinds of technical detailing throughout – inspired by TNF’s original Terra 65 backpack. A patchworked masterpiece of water-resistant  materials, this style is highly adaptable – featuring toggles and elastics at the hood and helming. Tasteful. Branding punctuates the look throughout, and alongside multiple pockets and backpack detailing. This is a show stealer and a must have for any serious technical outerwear fan. The only downside might be the hefty retail price, coming in at over $2000. It’s available now at END.

The Nike Air Max 180 is a classic model that hasn’t gotten much attention in recent years. That’s about to change now with this COMME des GARCONS HOMME version which first appeared at last season’s Paris Fashion week. Official images of the sneaker have not been released and they are heavy on the pink. While not to everyone’s taste these will fit in with well with any full Comme fit. Porter x Foot the Coacher Bag Collection

Porter is one of the most reliable names for durable, well-constructed bags. They have linked up with fellow Japanese accessory experts Foot the Coacher. While Foot the Coacher is best known for their sneakers, the collaboration allows them to put the same level of attention to a selection of backpacks and waist bags.

The backpacks come in three different styles and are constructed from Cordura ripstop, high-density nylon and leather. Zip pockets, drawstring entry, adjustable buckles and an assortment of storage options gear up for high functionality. The two waist bag styles come in either Cordura ripstop or black nylon and have tons of compartments and design details. The only downside of the collection is the pricing as these won’t come cheap with pricing in the $400-700USD range. Shop the collection over at HAVEN.

Air Max 98 Tour Yellow & Gundam

Nike made a splash with the return of the Air Max 98 in 2016. The release of OG color ways as well as three colors for the collab they did with Supreme showed that there was a market out there for faithful recreations of the shoe. Now in 2018, Nike is releasing two great colors in celebration of the shoe’s 20th anniversary. First off is the tour yellow version pictured above and a bright blue/red released nicknamed “Gundam” which you can see after the jump. These look like they’ve kept true to the originals in terms of materials and should appeal to the segment of their consumer base who prefers faithful recreations to new iterations on the style using modern tech. I’m all for the 98 coming back and it’s looking like this year will net even more versions of the sneaker later in the year. Look for both these sneakers to drop at Nike retailers after Jan 17.

Raf Simons SS18 ‘Blade Runner’ Inspired Items

The theme of Raf’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection was inspired by the original Blade Runner film. The presentation itself in New York was done outside, re-creating the neon-lit back alleys that more resembled a movie set than a runway. The items are now arriving in-stores and feature a whole range of pieces from outerwear to shirting, pants, sneakers and accessories including printed lamps with Peter Saville graphics. Long-time fans of Raf will recognize the return of familiar Saville prints from past collections as well ranging from the Joy Division album artwork to the New Order Power,Corruption and Lies floral graphic.
