ACRONYM Fall/Winter 2016 Collection Release

Yesterday say not just the release of the ACRONYM x Nike Presto Mids, but also the unveiling of the collection itself. The German based techwear pioneers present a strong array of pieces for the colder weather months. Outerwear wise two designs really steal the show in my opinion; the J43A-GT and the J53TS-GT. These two … Read more

Stone Island Shadow Project FW16 Lookbook

Perpetual techwear favorite Shadow Project is back with another directional collection. The fall collection utilizes over-dyed textiles that pull from the expert techniques of the parent brand Stone Island. All the winter outerwear bases are covered from bubble-goose jackets and insulated bombers to parkas and vests. There’s a heavy emphasis on zippers, pockets and practical details. The best iteration of this idea in the collection is a jacket with a large front zip-out pocket (large enough to store a laptop or other electronics).

More after the jump and you can find the collection at the usual stockists END and Oki-Ni.

Nanamica FW16 Lookbook

Nanamica always puts out one of my favorite loobooks each season. Remember wearing North Face in high school? I feel like Nanamica is the grad school version of that look. You have the reassurance of proper technical features when it comes to the elements but the label also combines it with relaxed tailoring and great fabrics. If you want something versatile that you can work to work and on vacation, it’s hard to beat Nanamica.

Shop the selection on their site and through retailers like END and SJS.

Index Early Autumn Collection Lookbook

It’s important for new brands to establish themselves through not only the product design but the presentation of the clothes themselves. A new line based out of Toronto called Index grabs attention straight off the bat with it’s gritty, textured take on men’s wear. Combining a relaxed silhouette with details such as raw hems and asymmetrical hardware, the line strikes a balance between the technical and the natural. The line uses many Japanese fabrics but are made in Canada. Pieces will be produced in limited quantities and are releasing soon, although they are available for pre-order now through the Index website.

Sasquatchfabrix FW16 Collection Lookbook

Sasquatchfabrix. has has spent the past year raising it’s brand profile. The brand activity included a capsule with beams and a hyped up Supreme collab. Despite all these ventures, Sasquatchfabrix gets down to the roots of their style with this collection. The clothing is equal parts recreations of historic Japanese garments with modernized fits and styling. We see this combination in the creative reinterpretations of kimonos. Other key items from the fall range are the bomber jackets, padded trousers and long draped coats.

Look for the item to release to Sasquatchfabrix stockists incluing Mr.Porter and SSENSE.

Dominate Jakarta FW16 Lookbook

I first covered Dominate Jakarta’s spring/summer collection on this site back in February. I was excited to see that the label had returned with an even stronger fall/winter 2016/17 collection entitled ‘Zeitgeist’. In the notes for the collection, Dominate includes this quote from Hegel “No man can surpass his own time, for the spirit of his time is also his own spirit.”

The lookbook continues to emphasize the gritty militaristic mood of the collection. The lookbook shows off everything from the screen printed basic tees and hats to an awesome distressed hoodie with hand-sewn patches. Other highlights are a pair of cropped fatigues and a navy mountain parka. Distribution for the brand seems quite limited outside of it’s native Indonesia so it’s probably best to hit their site directly for the goods.

Undercoverism SS17 Collection

Having just passed the brand’s 25th anniversary, Undercover takes an interesting turn for spring/summer 2017. Jun Takahashi is quoted as saying that this collection is all about daily men’s clothes and putting out the pieces he wants to wear. He seems to have embraced a balance between the more conceptual and utility/ease of wear. The garments this year are cut larger and not the usually super-skinny cuts we’ve come to expect from UC. In addition the color palette is extremely varied with a rich selection of tans, greens, pastels and a ton of different applied graphics and striking prints. The collection also had a theme of improvisation to it, which is shown in the layering and styling. Jun wanted a collection where pieces could be mixed and matched and still look good and I believe he achieved that.

Jun shows that once you get used to the idea of what the undercover brand is, he gets bored and switches it up on us. The decidedly bohemian summer collection should make it onto store shelves early next year, here’s hoping that some of the more elaborate pieces get picked up by buyers. Look for it to drop at stockists like END, SJS, Haven and SSENSE soon.

And Wander Fall/Winter 2016 Lookbook

And Wander is the type of brand that could only exist in Japan. It’s a niche enthusiast hiking and outdoor label that makes specialized gear for that purpose. That being said the utilitarian design doesn’t take away from the fact that And Wander really finesses and stylizes each piece.   Notable items include the tech-shells and a wild waterproof cape that you can see in the looks below. If you’re looking for stylish performance gear that can blend in with the clothes you already have , And Wander FW16 should serve you well.
