Nike React Element 87 “Dark Grey” & “Desert Sand”

If the public demand is any indication Nike’s React Element 87 is a certified hit. With an Undercover version of the sneaker still pending, Nike brings out two new color ways of the stand out shoe. The translucent TPE upper, futuristic detailing, and unique React midsole appear in both a “Desert Sand” and a “Dark Grey” version. The first uses ‘volt’ accents as an eye-catching detail while the latter opts for bold photo blue detailing.

Both of these new React Element colorways are set to release August 14th at US retailers and on Nike SNKRS and August 16th at EU retailers including BSTN.

Undercover ‘ASTRONAUTICS’ Hooded Down Jacket

First shown at Pitto Uomo the FW18 Undercover collection is all based around the classic Stanley Kubrick film 2001 A Space Odyssey. In particular many of the pieces focus around the HAL supercomputer that stars as the main villain of the film . A standout piece from the collection is this insane down jacket that has a helmet hood design complete with a see-through visor. Other details include raglan shoulders, syncopated contrast white panelling, “Undercover Astronautics Agency” emblem patch, and a “HAL9000” reference patch from Space Odyssey, side zipped pockets, interior mesh pouch, zipped phone pocket at sleeve, cuff straps, straight hem, tonal stitching. While the jacket is not cheap retailing at $3,723 USD it’s already moving quickly on H Lorenzo’s store shelves.

Needles SS18 Lookbook

Needles has spent the last couple years clarifying the vision of designer Keizo Shimizu. He has always brought together influences from across different genres including vintage workwear, military surplus and sportswear. While the ever-popular tracksuit and pants return, there’s plenty of new stuff to see as well. There’s pieces influenced by vintage western wear and even loose-fitting casual 70s suiting. The overall effect is relaxed and personable. With so many expressive pieces and creative styling throughout the looks, there is plenty here for pretty much everybody who is a fan of Needles.

Look for items to start dropping at retailers including Union Made in the Fall.

The Art of Metal Gear Solid I-IV Book

Fans of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid series will soon get the chance to explore the artwork of the first four entries, as well as Peace Walker. Dark Horse Publishing is set to release The Art of Metal Gear Solid I-IV to shelves in an 800-page hardcover collection on August 7. The book features tons of various concept art and design layouts that helped set the look and feel of the Kojima created universe. While it was previously released in Japanese, this is the first English release. This definitive chronicle of characters, vehicles, and weapons is a must have for long-time fans of the games. Nike Vandal High Supreme

The Nike Vandal is an under appreciated classic hi-top model. The sneaker has attracted the attention of Raf Simons in the past, with the designer putting out his own take on the style in the past. Great to see that Nike is bringing some classic color ways of the sneaker including a Black/Metallic Gold version and a shoe that features University Red/Metallic Silver . Even better the shoe brings back the classic nylon upper and pairs it with a simple white midsole unit. Expect these to hit store shelves on August 8 at select Nike Sportswear retailers including Nordstroms at a retail of $99USD.

Designed by Nanamica designer Eiichiro Homma, the Fall/Winter 2018 collection channels 90s vibes with a ton of easy to incorporate pieces. Tired Lab Debut Collection & Lookbook

You may be familiar with Toronto based designer Waley Gao through his work with Canadian label Index as well as his own custom designed pieces he’s featured online. Today marks the launch of a new endeavor Tired Lab, which is a distillation of design concepts that have inspired the designer in recent months. The full fledged line includes a full range of outerwear, shirting and trousers. The pieces stand out with their unique blend of details which include hand-stitching, mixed fabric selections and utilitarian pocket and zipper placement. One perfect example of this mindset is the versatile 2-in-1 convertible Phase Vest which doubles as a side bag when it’s not being worn.

Among the notable items are a logo graphic tee, a Cropped Flannel Jacket and the Mechanics Jumpsuit. One thing that stands out about the selection is the fact that each piece is made to order. Vans x WTAPS FW18 Collab

Vans has been collaborating with WTAPS since 2006 and in 2018 their partnership shows no sign of slowing down. Having already dozens of memorable sneakers over the years, the two brands are planning yet another release of seven new shoes this fall. The products are covering some new ground for the brand with a capsule that consists of two Sk8-His, two Eras, two Old Skools and a single Half Cab.

Breaking down the items, the Sk8-His are embroidered with eye-catching red and blue flames. The Eras offer a luxe combination of premium suede and croc leather. The Old Skools seem to a revamp of the familiar tan/olive palette seen on a past WTAPS designs. The Era uses a mix of canvas and rich suede,and the Half Cab features a stealthy digital camouflage print. Look for all seven shoes to release alongside a co-branded collection of apparel on Vans webshop and select Vans Vault stockists including Feature.
