Best Backpacks for FW14/15

I find that backpacks are the my favorite way to carry essential items from point A to B. If you’re looking for a new well designed pack, I’ve selected some of the best of the season below.

Acne Olov Backpack

Pretty much as minimal as you can get, this Acne backpack features extremely clean lines in shiny black nylon with minimal stitching. This will pretty much go with anything you want to wear and features a classic schoolbag shape.

Visvim 20L Ballistic nylon and canvas backpack

Visvim backpacks are famed for their design, durability and just how damn good they look. These recur season to season with slight revisions on the style popping up each year. This year’s edition comes in navy ballistic nylon with a robust suede bottom. Plenty of zippered pockets and padded back/shoulders will keep you comfortable. While the pricepoint is steep, rest assured that this is one of the best packs on the market.

Undercover Olive Drab Porter Edition Backpack

Undercover re-vives it’s classic bag shape for Fall/Winter 2014 with a collaboration with Porter. The two signature two pocket design is now in standard Porter nylon along with some nice detailing : brass hardware, cowhide trim and tonal stitching. This edition of the pack shouldn’t be around for long so if you can’t scoop an older version online, this may be an excellent choice.

Master-Piece Surpass Backpack

Master-Piece makes some great packs that provide good value given the made in Japan quality. While plebes might get it mixed up with a Herschel, you’ll be the wiser. Cordura Nylon fabric and leather shoulder straps make this stand above the average pack.

$250 at East Dane

Marni Grey Felt and Leather Backpack

If you’re feeling a bit too grown for a backpack, you may want to go with something a bit more luxe and low-key like this grey felt bag by Marni. A really pared down design that is mainly led by it’s materials. Grey felt wool and contrasting black leather panels. This backpack is job-interview approved.

Balenciaga Classic Traveller Backpack

Balenciaga outfits their Classic Traveller bacckpack  in forest green nylon with black leather accents. This is definetly at a luxury designer pricepoint so it isn’t for everyone, but it definetly would pair well with a clean techy wardrobe full of items from Dries, MMM, Jil Sander and Raf. While you may have to be part of the ruling class to afford this thing, those of you can who can pull it should be able to put together some great outfits using it.
