Goodhood Store SS13 Lookbook ‘The Art of Looking Sideways’

Photography by Two of Swords

Modeled by Francesca Chantel

London based Good Hood put together this editorial with some select items  Featuring the latest goods from brands including NEIGHBORHOOD, Norse Projects, Unrivaled, Soulland, Maiden Noir and P.A.M. Without a doubt more and more men’s shops are brands are using females in their visuals, however I think this is one of the better lookbooks I’ve seen styled with a street sensibility in some time. All the looks are a bit oversized  and the silhouette here is can inspire guys and girls alike.

Japanese label Neighborhood rolls out these graphic design t-shirts for the summertime. Aside from the regular screen-printed graphics on all cotton tees, a few designs are embellished with extra details (beading and embroidery). Also of note is the collaborative design with CASH CA, which riffs on fishing culture. The T-shirts range from £59.00 to £139.00 … Read more

Honeyee released images of the Spring/Summer 2013 Visvim collection in a feature entitled ‘Colors in Summer.’ Once again Hiroki Nakamura’s iterative approach to design is visible through the product assortment.  Familar items such as the SOCIAL SCULPTURE DENIM JACKET, TROPICAL COMBAT SHIRT  and LAMINA backpack are re-interpreted through a lighter pastel-based palette. New footwear appears too in the form of SKAGWAYS, HOCKEYS and VIRGILS.

soe FW13 Collection

Japanese designer Soichiro Ito created this  Fall/Winter 2013 collection that modernizes the collegiate look. The collection balances traditional menswear elements with a vibrant youthful edge.  The heavy usage of grey and the abundance of looks with cropped trousers definitely brings to mind Thom Browne. It seems that college wear has made a strong comeback in 2013 and designers are pulling from all aspects of college culture , from sportswear to class uniforms.

Lad Musician FW13 Collection

Lad Musician has been pairing extreme slim cuts , quality production with rock and roll edge for the better part of a decade. The fall/winter 2013 doesn’t exactly blaze new creative ground but is another well executed take on Brit-rock. The collection has been inspired by  British psychedelic rock group Spacemen 3. Chunky striped fuzzy knit sweaters add texture to more straightforward takes on outerwear including duffle coats and leather jackets. Also worth mentioning are the plaid trousers which combine a fantastic cut with what looks to be a versatile pattern.

banal chic bizzare FW13

It seems the best men’s brands from Tokyo just keep coming up increasingly ridiculous names. In this mountaineering inspired collection from Banal chic bizzarre I see a slight Raf Simons influence. The bright colors are a welcome departure from the more muted tones most men’s brands choose for fall/winter collections. The futurist vibe is toned down through the outerwear which appropriates visual/styling elements from 90s American hiking brands such as Patagonia. The designs in the collection appear insanely high quality and functional, but definitely not boring. This is gear worthy of Metal Gear Solid boss levels. That varsity jacket looks pretty perfect for the guy who wants a standout piece that isn’t completely over the top.
