BEAUTY & YOUTH sub-label monkey time mixes an unlikely set of influences and silhouettes for it’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The pieces in the lookbook reflect many of the trends in menswear of the moment – oversized hoodies, tan colors and creative layering. Along with the prominently feature Timberland Boots, the collection is rounded out by collaborations with Champion and Alpha Industries.

Asics has been busy with the collabs this year, using the popular Gel Lyte V model to collaborate with plenty of brands in the fashion industry and sneaker game. Before the year is out, eccentric Japanese label monkey time is set to release one of the hottest Gel Lytes of the year. The sneaker features a mix of high-quality nubuck on the upper and a Lyrca based inner sock. The contrasting sand-colored layers are styled together with monkey time pieces in a short editorial and video clip made to promote the release.

An offshoot of the Beauty & Youth label, Monkey Time is yet another entry in a long linage of terrible and strange Japanese brand names. While the label may look nothing like what it’s namesake would indicate, the fall/winter 2015 is a solid assortment of colder weather looks that riff on current menswear trends with creative styling. It’s a bit more sophisticated than the typical post-Rick goth look and if you evaluate the pieces themselves there’s many items worth owning including a few leather jackets, long bombers and wool coats.
