LOOKS / LIES 001

Today marks the launch of a new feature on Third Looks called ‘LOOKS/LIES’. The concept came as a result of various discussions between my friend Jayne Lies and I.  We’ve teamed up on some projects in the past including the Verticals music video for Celestial Trax and we always found the experience rewarding and eye-opening. We decided to launch this feature together as a means of preserving a moment in time (through photographic snapshots) in a quick and fun interview format. This ongoing series will serve as a platform through which we can document each subject’s style , aura thoughts and experiences within our local communities and beyond.

To launch the feature, Lies took a few photos of myself as I had been looking for a way to share my personal style is at currently. Through the word association style  interview questions that she put together, you should also get to know where i’ve been and where my head is at now.

Bumming Around Vol. 16 ‘Mirage by Jayne Lies

I’m excited to bring back Bumming Around with this photo feature with work by my friend Jayne Lies. She’s a New York photographer and visual artist. Jayne submitted this selection of 35mm film shots that capture a slice of everyday New York life through her eyes. The style of the photos is candid and voyeuristic and the subject matter revolves around the sighs and people that you might miss walking New York streets.  There’s footage here from the recent Eric Garner protests as well as portraits displaying the character and struggle of  OG New Yorkers.

Be sure to check out Jayne’s website HERE and also you can follow her on instagram. See the entire series ‘Mirage’ feature after the jump.

Video – LIES x Celestial Trax ‘VERTICALS’

It’s a beautiful thing when friends come together to create something altogether new. Some of you may have seen a beta cut of this visual at the PTP Pop-Up party a few weeks back but it’s since been re-vamped and set to ‘Verticals’ by Celestial Trax. LIES got behind the lens to shoot the our rambunctious model Juna draped in the Purple Tape Pedigree capsule collection. Choubi and set designer Jeremy also provide creative assists on this. If you’re feeling the video or just know the track record of the previous DWMS events, do come out Friday night for DWMS3.
