On the Ground in Baltimore – Photos from Seige Treasure

If you’ve caught the news at all over the past week, tensions have risen in Baltimore resulting in clashes between protestors, rioters and police. The media has been heavy criticizedĀ and many have turned to social media to get a better account of what is actually happening in the city of Baltimore. Photographer CJ Treasure has been on the ground in Baltimore using his camera as a means of documenting what’s been transpiring there. What he has been able to shoot reveals a compelling portrait of how the current protestsĀ have affected the community from law enforcement to families.

See more of his work here and also check out his first-hand account of the first night of unrest with Complex.

Seige’s work was previously featured on Third Looks as well.

Phenomenon FW15 Lookbook

Japanese label Phenomenon is associated with it’s trademark wild styling and standout maximalist pieces. The label has refined this formula and created a more unified look in the last few collections. This is very evident in it’s fall/winter 2015 selection and I can safely say that many of these pieces will be grail-worthy. The collection is very on trend with what’s going on in Japan but the execution ensures pushes it above and beyond what many brands are putting out. Some of the real bangers include the above shearling, a MA-1 inspired poncho and distressed denim. The styling here is also impecable with a mixture of lengths, textures and details. Respect to Phenomenon to putting out what might be their best collection to date and a lookbook worthy of further investigation. Find current season Phenomenon over at SSENSE.

Undercover TGRAPHICS Exhibition – Hong Kong

Undercover has relied on graphics as the focal point for many of the label’s designs over the past 25 years. Some of this artwork has been compiled and brought to a hong kong for an exhibition entitle TGRAPHICS. The exhibition features a mix of archival and rare graphics that span the brand’s history. The range of graphics is certainly impressiveĀ and includes collaborative art from the likes of Kaws.

If you’re in Hong Kong you still have a chance to see it in person until April 30th

WTAPS SS15 Editorial in GRIND Magazine

GRIND Magazine is one of my favorite men’s style mags out of Japan. They always are able to present both high fashion and streetwear in a clean, creative context. WTAPS is one of the brands that they consistently feature and they really are able to nail down imagery that captures where WTAPS is currently at. While the military influence is still there, WTAPS has broadened both its audience and viewpoint over the last several years by diversifying the product and making it less of a literal ‘milspec’ brand than it has been in the past. The result is the brand embracing more items like the hats, sweats and flannels found here.

LOOKS / LIES 001

Today marks the launch of a new feature on Third Looks called ‘LOOKS/LIES’. The concept came as a result of various discussionsĀ between my friend Jayne Lies and I. Ā We’ve teamed up on someĀ projects in the past including the Verticals music video for Celestial Trax and we always found the experience rewarding and eye-opening. WeĀ decided to launch this feature together as a means of preservingĀ a moment in timeĀ (through photographic snapshots) in a quick andĀ fun interview format. This ongoing series will serve as a platform through which we can document each subject’sĀ style , aura thoughts and experiences within our local communities and beyond.

To launch the feature, Lies took a few photos of myself as I had been looking for a way to share my personal style is at currently. Through the word association style Ā interview questions that she put together, you should also get to know where i’ve been and where my head is at now.

SILENT by Damir Doma Fall/Winter 2015 Lookbook

While fall/winter may be far from everyone’s minds right now, Silent Damir Doma delivers a collection of staples that can offer inspiration for how you dress right now. Ā Silent has always beenĀ Damir’s expression of streetwear and here the usual tees, hoodies and light jackets are back in a black, white and in dusty grey/sand colors. While the goth-street aeshetic this fits into is now a crowded space, the execution of theĀ stands above much of the competition.Ā  See more from the collection and explore the current offerings at Damir Doma’sĀ online store.

Acronym x Nike Lunar Force 1SP

Fresh off the heels of the re-launch of NikeĀ ACG, Acronym designer Errolson Hugh has once again teamed up with Nike on a new take on the Lunar Force 1. The literal centerpiece of the sneaker is a metal zip that extends up the upper. The sneaker features premium suede along with a patent leather heel. My favorite detail is the brandedĀ perforatedĀ leather tongue that sits atop the design.

Earlier photos also showed a white colorway of the sneaker but time will tell if those will be released alongside theseĀ black/white joints. Ā Look for these to hit Nike Lab locations and select Tier 0 accounts like END Clothing, HanonĀ and Oki-NiĀ in mid-June.

Mr.Gentleman Fall/Winter 2015 Collection

While Mr.Gentleman’s lead designer Takeshi Osumi may be better known for hisĀ work with the streetwear label Phenomenon, Mr.Gentleman continues to shape a unique vision of what a grown wardrobe can look like. The label exists to fill the gap between casual wear and a more tailored/refined look. I was immediately struck by the creative styling found in the Fall/Winter 2015 collection. While the usual assortment of men’s basics are here, they are remixed in ways that trigger lots of new outfit ideas.Ā

While the label is still difficult to find outside Japan, you can check out the SS15 collection onlineĀ HEREĀ and you can see more looks after the jump.
