Minotaur SS15 Collection Lookbook ‘Urban Resort’

Some brands look like what their brand name sounds like, this is not one of those brands. Minotaur doesn’t look like the half-man creature of Greek myth, instead the Japanese label delivers clean, non-nonsense minimal clothing. While the garments themselves are relatively nondescript, the lookbook shows the care taken on fit, fabrics and little utilitarian details.

The spring/summer 2015 collection is shot very minimally allowing the viewer to focus in on details on each individual item. Unfortunately distribution for the brand is still quite limited outside their native Japan. That being said hit the proxy and check their site for more info on how to cop.

Cyderhouse SS15 Collection Lookbook

Cyderhouse is a difficult label to describe or pin down. The Japanese label is designed by Yuji Okamoto who pulls from disparate inspirations and blends them to create eye-grabbing pieces that draw from grunge, punk and psychedelic drug culture.  I’ve come across some amazing items from the brand from past collections and it seems there are many items worth adding to your wardrobe this time around. While many Japanese brands are out to tastefully refine men’s classics, Cyderhouse is about warping them into something loud , strange and slightly aggressive. I’d place the brand in similar territory as brands such as Facetasm and Diet Butcher Slim Skin. Find a list of stockists on the brand’s website, which is also exploring for the flashy graphics and more detailed product shots.

Adidas by Juun J Fall/Winter 2015

Juun J made a name for himself at his debut collection by showing sneakers he had designed with Reebok  on the runway. He’s been a bit quiet on that front even as he has grown a significant following from his home base of South Korea. Juun takes the base ZX 8000 model and freaks it out in these strapped monochromatic colorways. Adidas shows it has no signs of slowing down it’s design collaboration program and the results of this latest teamup are definetly making a statement. While I might slow my roll on grabbing these due to the sticker price of $500-$585 USD, expect these to be available in selects stores and online in the coming months.

Undercover Fall/Winter 2015 Collection Lookbook

Undercover just released the lookbook for it’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection. The pieces in the collection embrace color in a way that the last fall/winter UC collection did not. Jun Takahashi pairs his trademark outerwear (parkas, leather riders, bombers and wool coats) styled in simple clean looks. Different trousers are shown throughout the collection and come in skinny, straight cut and wider cuts. The most intriguing pieces here to me were the outerwear that had feature more elaborate graphics like the parka above.

I think Jun has reached a point he’s not going to release collections that are as conceptual  as Earmuff Maniac or Less But Better. Instead it seems like Undercover is basically going to the brands past DNA and releasing interesting pieces that fans of the brand can easily add to their collections and mix with previous season UC items. Also promising for the brand is the fact that it’s distribution has increased in western countries with stores like Dover Street Market, Tres Bien, Haven and SSENSE stocking the line.

Raf Simons FW15 Collection

The Raf Simons x Sterling Ruby collection is all over Paris and London streetstyle this year . That collection was both a return to form for Raf and also a reminder of his influence on the menswear industry. Following his appointment at Dior,  his own namesake label seemed to suffer a bit and seemed slightly neglected for a few seasons following.  As a longtime Raf fan I was quite excited by the new direction he had steered the brand into with the Sterling collaboration.

Raf showed his latest Fall/Winter 2015 offerings in Paris. This collection is more muted and subtle than his last two. The designs cut back on being graphic heavy and instead rely on the cut and fabric to make their mark. The color palette fluctuates between earth tones and  pops of brighter colors. Overall the collection seemed to miss the mark. There were a few things that stood out to me, the coats were generously long and featured great proportions for the most part. Some individual trousers and turtlenecks also caught my eye as something worth a purchase this year. That being said the collection does feel a bit bland, and the execution of the styling simply didn’t appeal to me. I definitely couldn’t get down with one of the sloppy looks in the collection featuring a knit sleeveless vest layered over a baggy oxford. As with most Raf collections there’s definitely gems in some of the individual pieces (particularly the wool coats) but with Raf you have to set the bar high

Our Legacy Fall/Winter 2015 Collection

Swedish brand Our Legacy fills an important niche in men’s wardrobes by providing a mix of fashion forward clothing along with easy to wear elevated basics. The brand covers quite a bit of territory and in this upcoming Fall/Winter 2015 collection with a wide array of  colors, themes and styling options. Being a cold weather collection there’s plenty of outerwear here that stands out.

Styles include everything from nylon bombers to wool coats and the above shearling leather. The collection is named 10 , which is also the number of years the men’s label has been in business. The breadth of styles reflect both the brand’s history and also where it’s headed (slightly more experimental territory).
